The Look In His Eyes

Today, we recieved this photo of a little boy from our ministry partners in the Philippines, a pastor and his wife who said: "I saw this little boy tonight with his sister[...] I accidentally met this kid who was begging us about food to eat..We were touched." Please keep this boy in your prayers. In 2017, Ting Ministries wants to start expanding our work with street children. If you would like to help this little boy specifically, or other children saved from the streets, message us here or email us at tingministries@comcast.net

A Filipino Christmas Wish...

Filipino tribal children wish you a Merry Christmas! Did you know Ting Ministries works in the Philippines? Our ministry partners visited a leporosy colony a few days ago. They brought rice, supplies and gifts with them! Our partners also spent some time with the children in the colony and taught them a song in English! If you are interested in helping our friends in the Philippines, let us know at tingministries@comcast.net or message Ting Ministries on Facebook!

Needle-less to Say

Last night we chased Daddy out of the house to plan a surprise-- to sing his favorite Christmas song! Forty takes later including: hair pulling, dogs stealing Christmas ornaments, a sister picking her nose through a whole video, a cat bursting through the sign, another sister picking up the sign and hitting us on the head, Avi crying at my singing and Mom trying to snap some Christmas pictures in between... after all that, we finally got one video! Dad came home very curious as to why there were pine needles all over the floor (we had moved the tree and put it back). Needle-less (pun intended) to to say, it was a very eventful two hours! Please SHARE this video and to learn about our even bigger surprise to bless my Dad this Christmas, go to: www.youcaring.com/surprisehome

Guest Post from Sasha

My radio interview link is now online for listeners!

Thanks WPGM Radio and Matthew James for spreading the word about the Surprise Home through your podcast! Click here to go to the podcast page and then click on "Surprise Home" to listen. It was a pleasure to share the story a few days ago! After listening, please visit the YouCaring page at www.youcaring.com/surprisehome to find out more.

Also, be on the lookout for some more updates about the fundraiser, appearing in (again!) in the Milton Standard Journal as well as The Daily Item!

It is my desire through this fundraiser to honor my earthly father, commending him for the quiet strength and humility with which he cares for his family and for following the Lord's calling in his life. I also want to glorify my heavenly Father by sharing His heart for the orphan. All I am today is from Him because as my dad says, "The Lord plucked you out of that orphanage for a reason, Sasha." I hope you will consider helping me. Thank you.

Guest Post from The Blessing of Verity

From The Blessing of Verity...

Update: A Home for the Carpenters

Within the past few days, Sasha Carpenter has given newspaper, radio and television interviews, all while taking her final exams at Bucknell University.  She has made her parents’ ministry her own, with just as much passion as they have for special needs’ and older child adoption.  She’s not ashamed of her early history as an orphan; her past spurs her on to help other children in dire need, and now she’s raising funds for a suitable home for their family and ministry as a surprise for her dad.

I’d really like you to see the video of her television interview.  And then would you be willing to take a moment to share it on your social media outlets?  Just copy and paste the link below.  Thank you!

Hot Off the Presses! Read All About It

Guest Post from Sasha...

..there's a story behind the story:
Thousands of children, exploited, invisible
Speak up, take a stand, and there's someone to write about it
That's how things get better

Give life's little guys some ink, and when it dries just watch what happens
Those kids will live and breathe right on the page
And once they're center stage, you watch what happens...

~ Watch What Happens, Newsies

Today, these lyrics resounded in my heart. I got another opportunity to share the story of the Surprise Home fundraiser with The Standard Journal Newspaper from Milton, PA! This picture made the front page of today's paper:

Me with my sisters: (From left to right)
Ellianna, Annie, Avi, Lina, Olyvia and Rachelle

Thanks to The Standard Journal and Matt Farrand for the chance to speak up and take a stand for the orphan and for being there to write about it! Thanks to you, my sisters and our story are in print, ready to reach others with our story. I can't wait to watch what happens!

Check out a portion of the story here and if you haven't already, visit the fundraiser page (a widget is on the right sidebar of this blog). Stay tuned for more breaking news!

Breaking News: Daughter Raising Money for Family's New Home

Post from Sasha..

Guess who made an apperance on the local news station today?! Thank you to WNEP 16 News and Nikki Krize for sharing our Surprise Home fundraiser

The following is from the news segment that aired on WNEP earlier this evening, at 5:30 pm. If you want to see the segment as it aired on tv, please go to the video at this link: http://wnep.com/2016/12/13/daughter-raising-money-for-familys-new-home/#ooid=R1ZXM4ODE6UsvIADiR0G_LwFZa-HUKR5:

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- A student at Bucknell University is trying to surprise her father with a very special Christmas present -- a new house! The family has seven adopted children, all with special needs.
Sasha Carpenter was adopted from Russia when she was a baby. Since then, her parents adopted six other children. They'd like to adopt two more, but their house is not big enough, so Sasha is working with a realtor and fundraising to give her family a Christmas present they will never forget.
Sasha Carpenter is a sophomore at Bucknell University in Lewisburg. Like her classmates, she's studying for final exams and getting ready for the holidays. In between all that, Sasha is working on another project.
"Over Thanksgiving break, I decided to set up a fundraiser to surprise my dad and my sisters with a new home for Christmas," Carpenter said.
Sasha's dad Brian knows nothing about this. Sasha's parents adopted seven children from around the world, including Sasha.
Brian Carpenter is the founder of Ting Ministries, a nonprofit organization that works with teenage and special-needs orphans in different countries.
According to Sasha, the family found a house right near Bucknell University that will suit their needs perfectly. All they need is $20,000 for a down payment.
"We can move in with a rent-to-own situation," Carpenter said.
Sasha says their current house in Lebanon is too small, especially since the family wants to adopt two more children. All of the Carpenter children have special needs.
"It would mean a lot just to be able to give my sisters a bigger home to grow and to give them more opportunities," Carpenter said.
19-year-old Sasha has a form of cerebral palsy. Doctors in Russia told her she would never walk. She credits her parents for her success.
"Here I am at Bucknell now fully walking and double majoring," Carpenter said.
Sasha hopes to raise a good portion of the money needed before Christmas so she can surprise her dad.
"He has no idea this is happening, so I just can't imagine seeing his face when I tell him we can move up here," Carpenter said.
If you haven't already, please visit the fundraiser page (a widget is located on the right sidebar of this blog) and consider how you can help give my dad and sisters a Christmas gift they will never forget! Thank you!

Angela Needs a Family!

Angela needs a miracle! She ages out in Feburary 2017, just two months from now. Many of you followed Annie's story of finding her family right before she aged out... Now, I ask you, please help us find Angela a family! She was moved from a war region in Ukraine to another area. When a family saw her in 2012, she was not walking, but she might walk a litte now. She is mentally delayed and has some possible vision issues, but she has a gentle, sweet spirit. Angela deserves a family! Please go to this post to learn a bit more about her and please SHARE her story! She needs a family. We can't save every child, but we can make a difference for one life at a time.

What Can I Give Him? Part 1: A Home for the Carpenters

Written by our friends at The Blessing of Verity....
Every morning, first thing in the morning, Joe and I pray together.  For a long time, one of our earnest requests has been for a more suitable home for Brian and Stephanie Carpenter’s unique family and other ministries.
We KNOW Brian and Stephanie, we KNOW their passion for orphans, their trust in the Lord, the love and care they lavish on their girls.  We also KNOW that they are living in a tiny multi-level home, they themselves sleeping on the floor, without sufficient space for all the equipment their girls need…the wheelchairs, walkers, standers.
Many of you followed and donated toward Brian and Stephanie’s record-breaking 6 1/2 week Race To China for Annie back in the spring.  They officially adopted her one day shy of her fourteenth birthday and brought her home with full trust in the Lord that He could move them to a home that was more accessible and could accommodate all their girls’ equipment.
Their genuine need has been heavy on our hearts, maybe because we have lived in a very restricted space ourselves.  We know what a dramatic difference the right logistics will make for their family every day!  So I was thrilled to hear this week that there is something we may be able to do to help them in a practical way.  [Yes, I am feeling compelled!  You know it, or I would absolutely not be in this space fundraising again!]
Their oldest daughter Sasha, sitting beside her newest sister ANNIE at our kitchen table below, has started a YouCaring fund to surprise her daddy, A Home For Christmas.  Please go read the eloquent tribute she has written about him there.  What she writes about Brian is true; his entire life is given to the Lord in ministering to his family and beyond.  We have the highest respect and admiration for both Brian and Stephanie.  We hope that you will find it in your hearts to contribute something and that you will pray along with us for provision of just the right house for this dear family!
And now, a little treat for you…a glimpse of Annie!  When I first met Annie, I told her we have a daughter from China living in our family, too, and her face lit up with a huge smile!  We recently got the girls together for the first of what we hope will be many visits.  I explained privately to Josie that it will seem to her like Annie is much more disabled than she really is, but that Annie is super smart and understands everything she says.  Her body just does not cooperate with her efforts to move and to speak.  Josie responded, “I get it.”
One of the first things Annie did when she got home was to install a favorite game on the iPad, change it from English to Chinese, and begin playing it before Brian and Stephanie realized what she had done!  We see a communication device in this girl’s future!

Two beautiful young ladies, loved and cherished daughters, being a bit shy at their first meeting!  Both of them are so sweet-natured and both of them love to laugh!

Some of the ice managed to be broken over drawing projects and homemade chocolate chip cookies, and they agreed to be pen pals!

We watched God provide the home we needed in order to accommodate Josie’s needs.  We are eager to see him provide a home for Brian and Stephanie, Sasha, Ellianna, Avi, Lina, Rachele, Olyvia, and Annie!

We love you, girls, and we thank God for the treasures you are in our families!
