The Look In His Eyes

Today, we recieved this photo of a little boy from our ministry partners in the Philippines, a pastor and his wife who said: "I saw this little boy tonight with his sister[...] I accidentally met this kid who was begging us about food to eat..We were touched." Please keep this boy in your prayers. In 2017, Ting Ministries wants to start expanding our work with street children. If you would like to help this little boy specifically, or other children saved from the streets, message us here or email us at tingministries@comcast.net

A Filipino Christmas Wish...

Filipino tribal children wish you a Merry Christmas! Did you know Ting Ministries works in the Philippines? Our ministry partners visited a leporosy colony a few days ago. They brought rice, supplies and gifts with them! Our partners also spent some time with the children in the colony and taught them a song in English! If you are interested in helping our friends in the Philippines, let us know at tingministries@comcast.net or message Ting Ministries on Facebook!

Needle-less to Say

Last night we chased Daddy out of the house to plan a surprise-- to sing his favorite Christmas song! Forty takes later including: hair pulling, dogs stealing Christmas ornaments, a sister picking her nose through a whole video, a cat bursting through the sign, another sister picking up the sign and hitting us on the head, Avi crying at my singing and Mom trying to snap some Christmas pictures in between... after all that, we finally got one video! Dad came home very curious as to why there were pine needles all over the floor (we had moved the tree and put it back). Needle-less (pun intended) to to say, it was a very eventful two hours! Please SHARE this video and to learn about our even bigger surprise to bless my Dad this Christmas, go to: www.youcaring.com/surprisehome

It was a pleasure to share the story a few days ago! After listening, please visit the YouCaring page at www.youcaring.com/surprisehome to find out more.

Also, be on the lookout for some more updates about the fundraiser, appearing in (again!) in the Milton Standard Journal as well as The Daily Item!

It is my desire through this fundraiser to honor my earthly father, commending him for the quiet strength and humility with which he cares for his family and for following the Lord's calling in his life. I also want to glorify my heavenly Father by sharing His heart for the orphan. All I am today is from Him because as my dad says, "The Lord plucked you out of that orphanage for a reason, Sasha." I hope you will consider helping me. Thank you.

Guest Post from The Blessing of Verity

From The Blessing of Verity...

Update: A Home for the Carpenters

Within the past few days, Sasha Carpenter has given newspaper, radio and television interviews, all while taking her final exams at Bucknell University.  She has made her parents’ ministry her own, with just as much passion as they have for special needs’ and older child adoption.  She’s not ashamed of her early history as an orphan; her past spurs her on to help other children in dire need, and now she’s raising funds for a suitable home for their family and ministry as a surprise for her dad.

I’d really like you to see the video of her television interview.  And then would you be willing to take a moment to share it on your social media outlets?  Just copy and paste the link below.  Thank you!

Hot Off the Presses! Read All About It

Guest Post from Sasha...

..there's a story behind the story:
Thousands of children, exploited, invisible
Speak up, take a stand, and there's someone to write about it
That's how things get better

Give life's little guys some ink, and when it dries just watch what happens
Those kids will live and breathe right on the page
And once they're center stage, you watch what happens...

~ Watch What Happens, Newsies

Today, these lyrics resounded in my heart. I got another opportunity to share the story of the Surprise Home fundraiser with The Standard Journal Newspaper from Milton, PA! This picture made the front page of today's paper:

Me with my sisters: (From left to right)
Ellianna, Annie, Avi, Lina, Olyvia and Rachelle

Thanks to The Standard Journal and Matt Farrand for the chance to speak up and take a stand for the orphan and for being there to write about it! Thanks to you, my sisters and our story are in print, ready to reach others with our story. I can't wait to watch what happens!

Check out a portion of the story here and if you haven't already, visit the fundraiser page (a widget is on the right sidebar of this blog). Stay tuned for more breaking news!

Breaking News: Daughter Raising Money for Family's New Home

Post from Sasha..

Guess who made an apperance on the local news station today?! Thank you to WNEP 16 News and Nikki Krize for sharing our Surprise Home fundraiser

The following is from the news segment that aired on WNEP earlier this evening, at 5:30 pm. If you want to see the segment as it aired on tv, please go to the video at this link: http://wnep.com/2016/12/13/daughter-raising-money-for-familys-new-home/#ooid=R1ZXM4ODE6UsvIADiR0G_LwFZa-HUKR5:

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP -- A student at Bucknell University is trying to surprise her father with a very special Christmas present -- a new house! The family has seven adopted children, all with special needs.
Sasha Carpenter was adopted from Russia when she was a baby. Since then, her parents adopted six other children. They'd like to adopt two more, but their house is not big enough, so Sasha is working with a realtor and fundraising to give her family a Christmas present they will never forget.
Sasha Carpenter is a sophomore at Bucknell University in Lewisburg. Like her classmates, she's studying for final exams and getting ready for the holidays. In between all that, Sasha is working on another project.
"Over Thanksgiving break, I decided to set up a fundraiser to surprise my dad and my sisters with a new home for Christmas," Carpenter said.
Sasha's dad Brian knows nothing about this. Sasha's parents adopted seven children from around the world, including Sasha.
Brian Carpenter is the founder of Ting Ministries, a nonprofit organization that works with teenage and special-needs orphans in different countries.
According to Sasha, the family found a house right near Bucknell University that will suit their needs perfectly. All they need is $20,000 for a down payment.
"We can move in with a rent-to-own situation," Carpenter said.
Sasha says their current house in Lebanon is too small, especially since the family wants to adopt two more children. All of the Carpenter children have special needs.
"It would mean a lot just to be able to give my sisters a bigger home to grow and to give them more opportunities," Carpenter said.
19-year-old Sasha has a form of cerebral palsy. Doctors in Russia told her she would never walk. She credits her parents for her success.
"Here I am at Bucknell now fully walking and double majoring," Carpenter said.
Sasha hopes to raise a good portion of the money needed before Christmas so she can surprise her dad.
"He has no idea this is happening, so I just can't imagine seeing his face when I tell him we can move up here," Carpenter said.
If you haven't already, please visit the fundraiser page (a widget is located on the right sidebar of this blog) and consider how you can help give my dad and sisters a Christmas gift they will never forget! Thank you!

Angela Needs a Family!

Angela needs a miracle! She ages out in Feburary 2017, just two months from now. Many of you followed Annie's story of finding her family right before she aged out... Now, I ask you, please help us find Angela a family! She was moved from a war region in Ukraine to another area. When a family saw her in 2012, she was not walking, but she might walk a litte now. She is mentally delayed and has some possible vision issues, but she has a gentle, sweet spirit. Angela deserves a family! Please go to this post to learn a bit more about her and please SHARE her story! She needs a family. We can't save every child, but we can make a difference for one life at a time.

What Can I Give Him? Part 1: A Home for the Carpenters

Written by our friends at The Blessing of Verity....
Every morning, first thing in the morning, Joe and I pray together.  For a long time, one of our earnest requests has been for a more suitable home for Brian and Stephanie Carpenter’s unique family and other ministries.
We KNOW Brian and Stephanie, we KNOW their passion for orphans, their trust in the Lord, the love and care they lavish on their girls.  We also KNOW that they are living in a tiny multi-level home, they themselves sleeping on the floor, without sufficient space for all the equipment their girls need…the wheelchairs, walkers, standers.
Many of you followed and donated toward Brian and Stephanie’s record-breaking 6 1/2 week Race To China for Annie back in the spring.  They officially adopted her one day shy of her fourteenth birthday and brought her home with full trust in the Lord that He could move them to a home that was more accessible and could accommodate all their girls’ equipment.
Their genuine need has been heavy on our hearts, maybe because we have lived in a very restricted space ourselves.  We know what a dramatic difference the right logistics will make for their family every day!  So I was thrilled to hear this week that there is something we may be able to do to help them in a practical way.  [Yes, I am feeling compelled!  You know it, or I would absolutely not be in this space fundraising again!]
Their oldest daughter Sasha, sitting beside her newest sister ANNIE at our kitchen table below, has started a YouCaring fund to surprise her daddy, A Home For Christmas.  Please go read the eloquent tribute she has written about him there.  What she writes about Brian is true; his entire life is given to the Lord in ministering to his family and beyond.  We have the highest respect and admiration for both Brian and Stephanie.  We hope that you will find it in your hearts to contribute something and that you will pray along with us for provision of just the right house for this dear family!
And now, a little treat for you…a glimpse of Annie!  When I first met Annie, I told her we have a daughter from China living in our family, too, and her face lit up with a huge smile!  We recently got the girls together for the first of what we hope will be many visits.  I explained privately to Josie that it will seem to her like Annie is much more disabled than she really is, but that Annie is super smart and understands everything she says.  Her body just does not cooperate with her efforts to move and to speak.  Josie responded, “I get it.”
One of the first things Annie did when she got home was to install a favorite game on the iPad, change it from English to Chinese, and begin playing it before Brian and Stephanie realized what she had done!  We see a communication device in this girl’s future!
img_0074
Two beautiful young ladies, loved and cherished daughters, being a bit shy at their first meeting!  Both of them are so sweet-natured and both of them love to laugh!
img_0076
Some of the ice managed to be broken over drawing projects and homemade chocolate chip cookies, and they agreed to be pen pals!
img_0080
We watched God provide the home we needed in order to accommodate Josie’s needs.  We are eager to see him provide a home for Brian and Stephanie, Sasha, Ellianna, Avi, Lina, Rachele, Olyvia, and Annie!

We love you, girls, and we thank God for the treasures you are in our families!

A Home for Christmas: Suprise Annie and Her Daddy

"I don't need sunshine now,
To turn my skies at blue
I don't need anything but you!" ~Annie and Daddy Warbucks

Hi everyone! This is Sasha, with a very special blog post! Today, I would like to tell you the story of my sister Annie and her very own Daddy Warbucks. Six months ago, Annie was a nameless orphan in China. She would have aged out and become unadoptable, had it not been for one person, who felt called to bring her into our family. My dad.

My dad, Brian Carpenter is the kindest, most selfless men I know. He is the founder and co-director of Ting Ministries, my family's non-profit organization that works with teenage and special needs orphans in several countries including: the Philippines, China, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Pakistan. My dad is a stay-at-home parent along with my mom, because running our ministry and taking care of my six younger sisters  with special needs is a full-time job. Many people may not realize this, because my dad so quietly serves and cares for his family, day after day. He is truly a Defender of the Fatherless and although he has given so much already, he wants to help his daughters even more and open his heart and home to even more children.

However, to be able to make his dreams a reality, we need your help. My family's current house is too small to adequately provide for my sisters needs and to bring more children home. My parents have found a house near my university that is perfect for our needs. This house will allow us to: have plenty of space for wheelchairs and walkers and therapy (my sisters can't use their walkers in our small hallways now), and have more space so we can bring home more children who need families. A house so close to my school also means I can continue to stay close with my sistersand help with the ministry

In order for us to move into the house, all we need is 20,000 dollars for a rent-to-own deal! Please, as a daughter, who sees how tirelessly my dad works to provide for his family and my sisters, particularly Annie, will benefit, I ask you:

Will you consider making this a Christmas Annie and her daddy will never forget? Please go to www.youcaring.com/surprisehome

This fundraiser is a complete suprise-- my dad has no idea it's happening! What gift it would be to surpise him with a new house. You see, my dad doesn't want a bigger house just for himself. He wants it for his children and for the ministry, to help other children who have no family to call their own. Might you consider joining me to affirm my dad's work and sacrafices? The house is just a material place that our family needs to continue helping my sisters and others. A bigger house means more opportunities for my sisters and for Ting Ministries to grow. To my dad, family is the most important thing. As Daddy Warbucks says with Annie:

"...nothing on earth
Could ever divide us!
And if tomorrow,
I'm an apple seller, too
I don't need anything but you!
And what's the title of the dream
That's just come true...

I don't need anything...but you!"

Student of the month at Paramount Sports Complex - Gymnastics

Guess who was named STUDENT of the MONTH at Paramount Sports Complex? That's right-- Ellianna Ya-Ting of Ting Ministries!
"Ellianna Ya-Ting Carpenter loves gymnastics and Paramount...Ellianna works hard at everything she does and has a smile and personality that lights up the world...She is deaf and has cerebral palsy...Now you should see her jump, do handstands, vault to a handstand... and do pullovers on the bars. She has the spirit of an Olympic gymnast-- work hard-- never give up-- try again-- realize you are blessed...."
Here's what Ellianna's teachers had to say about her: "Ellianna was chosen to be the student of the month because she really is an inspiration to us all. Her joy is infectous and we love having her at Paramount! Keep up the hard work Ellianna-- you prove that possibilities are limitless!Picture

Without Faith It is Impossible to Please Him

Without faith it is impossible to please Him… —Hebrews 11:6

Faith in active opposition to common sense is mistaken enthusiasm and narrow-mindedness, and common sense in opposition to faith demonstrates a mistaken reliance on reason as the basis for truth. The life of faith brings the two of these into the proper relationship. Common sense and faith are as different from each other as the natural ...life is from the spiritual, and as impulsiveness is from inspiration. Nothing that Jesus Christ ever said is common sense, but is revelation sense, and is complete, whereas common sense falls short. Yet faith must be tested and tried before it becomes real in your life. “We know that all things work together for good…” (Romans 8:28) so that no matter what happens, the transforming power of God’s providence transforms perfect faith into reality. Faith always works in a personal way, because the purpose of God is to see that perfect faith is made real in His children.

For every detail of common sense in life, there is a truth God has revealed by which we can prove in our practical experience what we believe God to be. Faith is a tremendously active principle that always puts Jesus Christ first. The life of faith says, “Lord, You have said it, it appears to be irrational, but I’m going to step out boldly, trusting in Your Word” (for example, see Matthew 6:33). Turning intellectual faith into our personal possession isalways a fight, not just sometimes. God brings us into particular circumstances to educate our faith, because the nature of faith is to make the object of our faith very real to us. Until we know Jesus, God is merely a concept, and we can’t have faith in Him. But once we hear Jesus say, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9) we immediately have something that is real, and our faith is limitless. Faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

We had an awesome visit with ministry friends and partners from the Philippines.  Mike, Malen and Michaela Papadopoulos from Home for Good Foundation www.hfgf.org
Malen was a big part of our little Avigayil making it safely home from the Philippines when we adopted her in April of 2011.  This was the first time I had the blessing of seeing Malen since being in the Philippines for a conference in August of 2011.

Hannie is proof that miracles can and do happen.  Do not let others tell you something is impossible!  Believe for the impossible.

June 27th at 4:00 pm Hannah Qiao Carpenter was officially adopted in Changsha, China.  Annie or "Hannie" turned 14 years old the very next day - June 28, 2016.  She was literally adopted within hours of her aging out of the adoption system forever!

Beautiful Hannie....no longer an orphan without a name...without a family...without love...without a future!  Will we step out and adopt again...YES...there are so many children in need of a family!  So many with such potential...so many that just want to be loved  What do orphans want the most...they want a family.

Race to China 2016

Their You Caring site is, www.youcaring.com/racetochina
"Hi everyone, this is Sasha - writing for our family and Ting Ministries.
I was adopted from Russia when I was 17 months old. I was headed to a Russian mental institution had I not been adopted. Doctors said I would never walk and would always need special needs classes. Today, I can run a ten-minute mile and I am finishing my first year at Bucknell University with a double major and minor. I also have five younger sisters with special needs that were all adopted from different countries.
God has recently called our family to China.
Today, I would like to introduce you to someone. This is Annie.
Every day, she and her friends pray that a family will come for her. She has 2 months left until her 14th birthday at which time she will age out in China! We believe that Annie will thrive in our family. She has spastic cerebral palsy that affects her upper and lower body and her speech. She has a very bright mind and is a treasure waiting for someone to see her value! Annie has Cerebral Palsy just like me. When I see her picture, I see a future and potential. But unless we get to her in time, Annie will live the rest of her life in an orphanage. She will never know what it is like to have a mama, a papa and sisters. Her dreams will remain only dreams.
But we have to hurry! We have two months to raise 26,000 dollars to bring Annie home forever! We need miracles for every document to be processed at an expedited pace!
Can you imagine her joy when she realizes the Lord has answered her prayers? Imagine how much her faith will be strengthened!
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
Words cannot express how deeply I desire to see Annie a part of my family - To be an adopted sister and a sister in Christ.

So today, I plead with you, will you help us bring Annie home?
We have a You Caring page set up at: www.youcaring.com/racetochina
Will you help answer Annie's prayer?
2 months.
26,000 dollars.
Our Race to China has begun...join us!
In a season filled with political campaigns, the need for orphan awareness becomes even greater. Individual candidates have raised up to 224 million dollars. How many adoptions could be funded for the price of a campaign? How many children could have families for the price of television advertising?
You can view us on

Thank you all so much!
